Dos días en Extremadura
Two days in Extremadura

Grullas / Common Cranes

Rascón / Water Rail

Nutria / Otter

Pechiazul / Bluethroat

Buitre negro / Black Vulture

Águila imperial ibérica / Spanish Imperial Eagle

I led a couple of Danish birders last week in Extremadura for a couple of days. During the two great days we had together we managed to see some of the most attractive birds of the region such as Spanish Imperial Eagle (both juvenile and subadult birds), Black Vulture, three Golden Eagles together, Common Cranes, a Lesser Spotted Woodpecker, Dartford Warbler, Blue Rock Thrush, a late White-rumped Swift and a wide selection of steppe birds including Pin-tailed and Black-bellied Sandgrouse, Calandra Lark, five Little Bustards, a dozen of Great Bustards... In the nearby Talavan reservoir we had a family of otters (adult plus two cubs), Bluethroat and a extremely confident Water Rail.
