I've been checking some of the access of the itinerary we will do on Saturday for the trip of the World Bird Festival. We will explore some of the best cultivated areas of Madrid suitable for steppe birds. In spite of not being the best time for birding in the area I had a quite a few surprises in the evening. Five Roe deers flushed from their hide into a deep bushy area in the middle of the plain. Amongst the most exciting birds seen were three young Spanish Imperial Eagles, about 50 Great Bustards here and there, more than 75 Little Bustards and male and female Hen Harrier. I will travel tomorrow to check the other areas for this trip.
