Llanos, sierra y montePlains, mountains and woods

Los días 10 y 11 de octubre he visitado junto a un cliente norteamericano, algunos de los ecosistemas más emblemáticos para observar aves en Madrid. Llanos de Valdetorres, Monte de El Pardo y Sierra de Guadarrama. Teniendo en cuenta que no es la mejor época del año para ver pájaros en la región hemos tenido la suerte de ver especies muy interesantes. Resumiendo, más de un centenar de avutardas, un bando de 30 sisones, ganga ortega, halcón peregrino, águila imperial ibérica (tres aves distintas durante los dos días), buitre negro, buitre leonado, verderón serrano, collalba negra, roquero solitario, reyezuelo listado, colirrojo real, picogordo, cogujada montesina, rabilargo, piquituerto y todo un elenco de aves más o menos comunes pero atractivas para alguien que viene de otro continente.

On 10 and 11 October I have visited join Sterling Blanchard, an American client, some of the most attractive areas for birding in Madrid region. The plains of Valdetorres, the woods of Monte de El Pardo Nature Reserve and the well known Sierra de Guadarrama mountains. Considering that it is not the best time for birdwatching into the area we managed to find some of the Mediterranean specialities present in Madrid. More than a hundred Great Bustards, a flock of more than 30 Little Bustards, Black-bellied Sandgrouse, Peregrine Falcon, Spanish Imperial Eagle (three different birds in total), Eurasian Black Vulture, Griffon Vulture, Citril Finch, Black Wheatear, Blue-rock Thrush, Firecrest, Common Redstart, Hawfinch, Thekla Lark, Azure-winged Magpie, Crossbill and quite a few more interesting birds for someone comming from other continent.
